THE PLANTATION LABOUR
ACT, 1951
 
The Act provides for the welfare of labour and regulate the conditions of service in plantations. It extends to whole India, except Jammu & Kashmir. Any worker drawing salary of Rs. 750/- per month are convered under this act. The Chief Inspector have to insure that the medical benefits to the worker and their families, drinking water, latrines and urinals are provided. Canteen, Creches, recreational, educational and housing facilities should be provided by the employers. For every 300 or more workers one welfare worker is required. The Act regulate working hours, leaves and holidays, Sickness and maternity benefit are also provided under this Act.
